Information for students

For many years there has been a close cooperation in teaching and research between the University of Rostock (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology) and Fraunhofer IGP for many years.
The Chair of Production Engineering is responsible for training the production and manufacturing technology modules in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes.  Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wilko Flügge, director of the Fraunhofer IGP, is head of the chair.

Fraunhofer IGP is also closely interlinked with the topics of the Chair of Joining Technology in order to provide students with a cohesive picture of all manufacturing processes.
Since 1998, university teaching has been closely interlinked with industrial research. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Knuth-Michael Henkel, deputy director of the Fraunhofer IGP, is head of the Chair of Joining Technology.

Equipment

The equipment for university teaching includes this robot from the KUKA company of the Chair of Production Technology, on which students can take their first steps in programming. The acquisition of the robot in cooperation between the Fraunhofer Institute and the University of Rostock makes it possible to pass on expertise from the field of robotics directly to the students. Here they can transfer theoretical teaching into practical application.
