Rostock. The morning is dedicated to encouraging girls to pursue careers in science, while the evening is aimed at a broad audience: As part of its early-career support activities, Fraunhofer IGP is participating in both the nationwide Girls’Day and the Long Night of the Sciences.

Breaking with stereotypes at Girls’Day

"Girls should not let stereotypes limit them, especially when it comes to their future," says Julia Stahl (Education Coordinator) at Fraunhofer IGP. The research institute places great importance on supporting the scientists and technicians of tomorrow, which is why it is once again offering spots for Girls’Day this year and has planned an exciting program.

The Long Night of the Sciences

Starting at 4 PM, the Campus Südstadt will transform into a science oasis where visitors can experience technology and research up close. Scientists from Fraunhofer IGP will showcase their expertise, lead groups through the research institute, and captivate attendees with innovative technologies. Some program highlights include interactive activities that allow visitors to get hands-on experience.

The Program for the Long Night of the Sciences at Fraunhofer IGP:

  • Automated riveting system for aircraft construction (Demonstration)
  • Baltic Racing: Motorsport meets high-tech (Demonstration)
  • Digital factory & autonomous logistics: Experience it live! (Exhibition, hands-on)
  • Fiber optic sensors: The nervous system for lightweight carbon components (Demonstration)
  • Glue, UV light, action: Create your masterpiece! (Hands-on)
  • Guided tours through the research institute
  • Hands-on research for kids: Discover, play, and create (Hands-on)
  • Industrial robotics: Interactive robot course (Demonstration)
  • Liebherr-Rostock GmbH: Move, discover, understand: Experience maritime crane technology up close (Demonstration, hands-on)
  • Programming and application with CAD/CAM (Demonstration and hands-on experience)
  • Spray Your Keychain: Coat a keychain with your own initials (Hands-on)
